Research on xenon lamp began in Germany in 1933 and P. Schultz successfully commercialized it in 1944. Lamp that makes use of discharge emission which occurs inside xenon gas emits stable light as it is turned on. This emission has a continuous spectrum ranging from ultraviolet region to infrared region, embracing visible ray region.

Especially, light from ultraviolet region to visible ray region is extremely similar to natural light and is combined with exclusive reflective mirror specially manufactured for projectors at movie theaters. It is also widely selected for military and special ships.

Xenon lamp mounted in this product is a short arc xenon lamp that is turned on with direct current as the gap between anode and cathode of quartz tube is closed to a distance of several millimeters. Sealed xenon gas reaches 20~40atm when light is turned on. As it is a point-source light with high luminance, similarity with natural light and sound color rendering (degree of brightness of the light source throughout the entire frequency band of visible ray region), it has most appropriate characteristics for xenon searchlight on ships.

Searchlight Main Unit

Searchlight main unit of our company is a combination of cooling fan sufficient enough for unlimited continuous lighting, head drum designed with a structure that maximizes performance and efficiency of inhalation=>circulation=>cooling=>exhaust process, and gear box that shows excellent operating performance and reliability in preventing condensation phenomenon.

Especially, internal temperature sensor of head drum included by default starting with HD-XR1000WR product prevents thermal damaging of internal parts in case of abnormality in cooling function. Gear box heater performs the role of preventing damaging of operating motor and parts according to condensation that occurs on the interior of gear box depending on the rapidly changing navigation environment of ships.

Power Supply

This product is operated based on SMPS (Switching Mode Power Supply) method. This innovatively reduced weight and volume compared to existing SCR control type power supply, allowing for installation on small ships.

Furthermore, this product is controlled using program designed based on exclusively know-how of our company. It maintains stability of not supplying any power to xenon lamp, even if power of power supply is basically turned “ON”, unless the ship is in operation.

The reason why power of power supply is always maintained as “ON” is because power supply supplies power for cooling of post heat on devices like xenon lamp, main PCB unit and transformer after searchlight is turned off. It includes a function of performing real-time monitoring on searchlight main unit and power supply in the lighting process and situation, automatically suspending power to protect the product during abnormal operation.

Remote Control Panel

Remote control panel commonly attached to wheelhouse console consists of various switches for functions of searchlight and monitoring signal LED lamp.

HD-XR550WR by default has lever switch (allowing selection of bidirectional lever switch option) that can search in one direction among top, bottom, left and right.

Lever switch that allows simultaneous searching in one and both directions mounted since HD-XR1000WR and later models can exhibit optimal performance under general searching and emergency searching situations. Mechanical lifetime of over 5 million uses and handle made of duralumin material offer excellent durability and control quality.
